Our staff are always happy to answer any questions you may have, with many years of experience working within our Pre School they understand the importance of choosing the right setting for your child.
Our Ethos
At Blagdon preschool we understand that each child is unique. Our professional staff work hard to create a caring and nurturing environment, enabling the children to feel safe, secure and happy. Meaning they can freely explore our relaxed preschool, following their own pathway to make new discoveries and connections through curiosity, creativity and play. We believe that through a combination of our stimulating environment, daily routine, child led play, planned activities and our professional, caring staff, we can help children to
develop their own interests and become compassionate, confident and independent thinkers. Leaving our early years setting with lifelong learning traits to support them to thrive throughout their life.

Our curriculum
We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage statutory framework (EYFS) which covers requirements for education, welfare and the safeguarding of children from birth to 5 years. This framework continues throughout the duration of children’s reception year. The framework is play based to support the development of characteristics of effective learning, creating lifelong learning traits children can take through their education and beyond. The EYFS sets out the areas of learning and development, including the 3 prime areas:
-
ï‚· Communication and language
-
ï‚· Physical Development
-
ï‚· Personal, Social and Emotional development
Along with 4 specific areas of learning and development:
-
ï‚· Literacy
-
ï‚· Mathematics
-
ï‚· Expressive art and design
-
ï‚· Understanding the world
At our preschool, we build positive relationships with children and their families, which supports children to feel safe and secure. Enabling them to explore our stimulating environment, engage in the high-quality experiences we offer to the children. In turn
developing their skills in all 7 areas of learning in the EYFS. This sets a great foundation for life, including their readiness for school. Where we want children to become independent learners, confident communicators and build positive relationships, ready for the next steps in their life. A children’s keyperson will monitor the progress of their children to ensure their individual needs are meet, they feel safe and secure and tailor activities to support children’s developmental needs while following their interests in line with their age and stage. We use the curriculum guidance Development Matters to measure progress in accordance with the EYFS.
